Nagaland is expected to witness fairly widespread to widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds till April 22, according to the latest All India Weather Summary and Forecast Bulletin issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) on April 19

The forecast indicated that Nagaland, along with other North-East states, will experience light to moderate rainfall with wind speeds reaching 30–50 kmph during this period.

Thunderstorm activity with lightning and gusty winds (30–40 kmph) is likely at isolated places across the state between April 19 and 21, with continued lightning activity expected on April 22.

Weather observations for April 19 showed rainfall occurring at many places across Nagaland and the broader Northeast region.

As per the IMD, in the Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura (NMMT) sub-division, Dimapur recorded 1 cm of rainfall during the day.

Some areas also experienced hail along with heavy rain and gusty winds.

The broader regional outlook suggests that rainfall activity over Nagaland is part of a wider weather system affecting Northeast India, where widespread precipitation is expected to persist over several days.

While heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, no such heavy rainfall warning has been indicated specifically for Nagaland.

In addition to rainfall, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds remain the primary concern for the state.

No significant warnings have been issued for April 23 and 24, indicating a likely easing of intense weather activity beyond April 22.

Across the country, the weather pattern reflects contrasting conditions. While North-East India and some other states are experiencing active rainfall and thunderstorm activity, several parts of central and north India are under conditions.

Wave conditions very likely at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, East Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha in the next few days, the IMD stated.
