The Wokha District Congress Committee (WDCC) held a meeting at its office in Wokha on April 9, aimed at enhancing the party’s presence in the district.

K Yisanbemo Kikon, President, DCC Wokha, shared insights from the recent DCC President’s meeting in New Delhi, attended by eight district presidents from Nagaland. He highlighted critical grievances, notably the lack of a Congress Bhavan in the district and the necessity of establishing a congress office at 39 and 40 A/Cs. Kikon urged party members to intensify grassroots efforts, focusing on membership enrolment drives and collaborative strategies to fortify the party's foundation.

Former Congress candidate Woben Tungoe emphasised the need for active participation among members, urging them not to await rewards but to actively nurture the party’s growth. He stressed the importance of taking personal responsibility to address shortcomings and enhance enrolment, noting that many supporters remain eager to back the party if the DCC amplifies its efforts. Tungoe encouraged members to convene at least once a month and to avoid complacency.

The meeting also featured a group discussion centred on bolstering the party’s organisational structure within the district. The DCC concluded that electing a Congress MLA in the next term is of paramount importance, with immediate actions required to achieve this goal. Special emphasis was placed on engaging the youth of the district to strengthen the party’s appeal.

The meeting was chaired by R. Longshithung Kikon, Vice President of DCC Wokha, and concluded with a vote of thanks.
