Yingli College hosts ‘A Prelude to Monyiü’ celebration in Longleng

LONGLENG, MARCH 30 (MExN): Yingli College, Longleng, celebrated “A Prelude to Monyiü” under the theme “Revive, Relearn, Progress: A Cultural Journey” on Friday, with Superintendent of Police (SP) Longleng, Yanger Jamir, NPS, as the special guest.

Addressing the gathering, Jamir congratulated the faculty and administration of Yingli College for their continuous progress. He emphasized the importance of cultural identity, encouraging the Phom community to take pride in their heritage. He urged students to make informed career choices, noting that not everyone can become a gazetted officer and encouraging them to identify their strengths and set meaningful goals.

The event featured a welcome address by Dr. T. Temsu Imti, Principal of Yingli College, and a deliberation on the history of Monyiü by Vice Principal Dr. B. Henshet Phom. Monyiü greetings were delivered by Ainyu Phom, President of Phomla Hoichem, while N. Nanpei Phom, Head GB of Bhumnyu Village, recounted the village’s contribution of land for the establishment of Yingli College.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Yingli College and the Superintendent of Police’s office for a five-year internship program focused on capacity building, community engagement, and public safety. The partnership aims to facilitate collaboration on local, state, and national issues while prioritizing student education.

Cultural performances, including a harmony heritage song, folk dances by students, and a special Monyiü song by M. Phammei Phom, highlighted the day’s events. The second session featured a talk on "Writing Culture: A Way Forward" by Phom writer Chingong Phom, followed by a talent extravaganza.
