Dimapur, April 17 (MExN): An expert talk on the role of youth, education and media in shaping a developed India by 2047 was held at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Nagaland, Chumoukedima on April 15 under the Viksit Bharat@2047 Lecture Series.
Dr Kumar Rakesh, Editorial Chairman of the Global Governance News Group and Samagra Bharat Media Group, addressed students and faculty on the theme “Role of Youth, Education & Media for Viksit Bharat 2047.”
Drawing from his experience across more than 50 countries, he spoke on the link between youth participation, quality education and responsible media in nation-building. “Journalism is an important tool of a vibrant democracy. Information is power, and power is an instrument to solve issues in present circumstances of developing India,” he said.
Referring to the Viksit Bharat initiative, he called on young people to take part, stating that “every youth of the country beyond caste, creed and religion is a brand ambassador of Viksit Bharat @2047.” He also spoke on the role of education and media in shaping social responsibility, citing personal experiences and references.
Director of NIT Nagaland, A Elayaperumal, said there is a need to connect technical education with media and communication. He said engineers and scientists must be able to convey their ideas and innovations to a wider audience and take part in public discourse. He also raised concerns regarding ethics in social media and its impact on society.
The programme was anchored by research scholar Ankita, while Shubh Shree presented the national song. A Naga cultural song was performed by Keniezenuo.
The session, held at the institute’s video conference hall, saw participation from faculty members, research scholars and students from BTech, MTech and MSc programmes. Discussions centred on bridging technical expertise with social responsibility in line with the vision of a self-reliant India.
