The Department of Land Resources (LRD) Kiphire in collaboration with the Department of Soil and Water Conservation (DSWC) jointly celebrated World Environment Day at Natsami village under PMKSY WDC 2.0. The programme was held with the theme ‘Land Restoration, desertfication and drought resilient’ and it was attended by the village elders, women folks and others. During the programme, coffee plantation and organic manure were distributed.
Addressing the gathering, Zulumeren, SDO emphasised on the importance of soil health card and disclosed that the department is on the job in collecting soil sample from project villages. He also shared on the importance of soil health card and its benefit.
Lipichem, DPO, LRD Kiphire addressing the gathering spoke on the theme and appealed to take good care of land as it gives life to all. “If we don't take care of our environment, it is the society that will feel the impact,” he stated and requested the gathering to be responsible guardian of the land and environment.
