Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjüm joined hands with other organisations to observe World Environment Day 2024.
Mon, June 5 (MExN): The churches under the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjüm (KBBB) observed June 2 (Sunday) as the Environment Sunday with the theme, “Earth Care.” The church pulpit was used to create awareness of the importance of environment in the context of global issues such as global warming and climate change.
“Priestly thanksgiving prayer and mass confession for misusing of the natural resources was offered in every Church,” Rev A Peihwang Wangsa, Education & Literature Secretary, KBBB, Mon stated in a press release.
On the World Environment Day 2024, the Hills Area Development Organization (HADO), Konjong Higher Secondary School (KHSS), Mission School Angjangyang (MSA), Bangjüm Primary Schools at Longzang village and Nyahnyu village under the aegis of the Konyak Baptist Bumeinok Bangjüm (KBBB) observed the event with the UNEP theme: Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience “ and the slogan “Our Land. Our future.”

The day’s activities began with the invocation by KBBB Executive Secretary, Rev L Metjen. The mass plantation drive was organised at the Mission Centre community in the morning and followed by cleaning of riverside, roadside plantation, hoisting of environment awareness banner at Tapi River near Mon District Headquarters.
The Director of HADO, PY Wilson acknowledged the District Administration, District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) under Bheti Bachao, Beti Badao, Forest Department and Konjong Higher Secondary School for their cooperation and support extended to make the day activities possible. The Brotherhood United volunteered for the entire day.
The Director of HADO also mentioned in his speech that we all are responsible citizens and we are responsible for the climate related issues that we are facing today, therefore, it is the role of the Church also to emphatically teach the importance of conservation and protection of our environment. God gave us the stewardship to manage the creations in a way that sustains, protects and enhances His works so that all creations may fulfill the purposes God intended because we all are stewards in God’s garden where He placed us.
The outreached schools under the KBBB Education Department and some local Churches also marked the day with the programme of social awareness and mass plantations in their respective communities.
The events that concerned the environment were successfully organised with the joint effort and hard work of the KBBB staff headed by the Executive Secretary, the heads of the institutions and Pastors of the local Churches.
