‘One Nagaland Run 5K’ held in Mokokchung

Mokokchung, August 19 (MExN): The Mokokchung Division of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Youth Wing organised the "One Nagaland Run 5K" on Wednesday under the theme "Running Together, Growing Together."

 

Organised under the aegis of the NPF Central Youth Wing, Nagaland, the event drew more than 80 participants to encourage fitness, solidarity, and athletic engagement across the district.

Participants gathered at the Rotary Club House Junction at 5:00 AM for registration and pre-race preparations. The event commenced with an invocation offered by Marchizung, Vice President, NPF Mokokchung Division.

 

The 5-kilometre run was officially flagged off at 5:30 AM by Apong Pongener, Advisor to the NPF President and Chief Minister. The route spanned from the Rotary Club House Junction through B.O.C. before culminating at the Imkongmeren Sports Complex.

A formal prize distribution ceremony followed at the stadium, hosted by Imlinungba, General Secretary of the Youth Wing, Mokokchung Division. Addresses were delivered by Apong Pongener and Rongsentoshi Jamir, President of Mokokchung Athletics. The vote of thanks and closing prayer were pronounced by Takonungsang, President, NPF Youth Wing, Mokokchung Division.

 

Top three finishers in both the Men’s and Women’s Open Categories received cash awards of ₹5,000 (first), ₹3,000 (second), and ₹2,000 (third), alongside citations. Special awards of ₹1,000 each, along with certificates, were presented to the youngest and oldest finishers, as well as the second-youngest participants.

Results:

•    Men’s Open Category:
o    1st Place: Takasanen Longkumer

o    2nd Place: Talimiem

o    3rd Place: Temjensanen Pongen

•    Women’s Open Category:
o    1st Place: Sungtiyala C. Imchen

o    2nd Place: Jemie P

o    3rd Place: Opanglemla Jamir

•    Special Awards:
o    Youngest Finisher: Putiyanger (12 years)

o    Oldest Finisher: Limayanger (56 years)

o    Second-Youngest Finishers: Metsulong (13 years) and Lanutemjen Kichu (13 years)
