Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): Responding to the news item “Jalukielo, Ghowoto villagers clash”, published on June 22 in local daily, villagers of Jalukielo stated that it carries “contradictory statement, deviating facts and circumstantial evidences”.
Jalukielo village Chairman, Heizieying stated in a rejoinder that Jalukielo villagers did not accuse anyone without proof of validity and for which the attackers were reported to the media simply as ‘unidentified group of people’. “However, since the assailants have openly admitted their identity in the media, we shall not leave any stone unturned to give a befitting lesson to prove our obligation in safeguarding our land from the hands of illegal encroachers. As such, we shall uphold our committed allegiance towards the landowner (old Jalukie Village) in particular, and the Zeliangrong community in general and we shall never submit to any force that obstructs our rights,” the rejoinder stated.
It also stated that terming Jalukielo villagers in the district of Peren as ‘encroachers’ is baseless comments and unprofessional fabrication of the truth, which directly implies readiness to aggravate and disturb the hard-earned peaceful coexistence for which the Zeliangrongs are ever ready to sacrifice and defend their God-given land at any cost.

Government silent on land dispute issue, says WSKH
Dimapur, June 24 (MExN): The Western Sumi Kukami Hoho has condemned the several attempts of Jalukielo village to encroach the Ghowoto village land and also the silence of the government on the issue.
A condemnation note issued by its President, Apeto Assumi stated that the people from Jalukielo village have been continuously trying to occupy land belonging to Ghowoto and because of which there have been unrest in the area and as a result administration has deployed IRB personnel in the area as a neutral force to maintain stability in the area.
“But surprisingly, right under the nose of IRB personnel stationed in the area, armed Jalukielo villagers are entering into the land of Ghowoto villager at their own will and creating problem. At this juncture, how could one expect the Ghowoto villagers to remain silent when someone is forcefully trying to grab their land?” it stated.
The note also alleged that instead of defusing the situation and bring normalcy in the area, administration and police are apparently being partial and one sided on the issue, which is not good for a society that wants peace to prevail. The WSKH once again urge the government to deliver justice, which otherwise Ghowoto villagers will have no alternative but to take its own measures to safeguard the right of the village.
